Frequently Asked Questions:

  • What does the Intake/first session look like?
I consider the intake a "get to know you better" opportunity. All clients are given a biopsychosocial assessment and diagnostic measurements during the intake session. Then, we will spend time identifying your goals for counseling and gathering more details of your mental health related history so I can develop a tailored treatment plan.
  • Can you do EMDR and EMDR for Chronic Pain virtually?
Yes! I was specifically trained on how to provide various EMDR therapy protocols both via telehealth/online means and in-person. EMDR has been proven to be just as effective virtually as in person and can be applied to much more than just trauma memories. I am also trained in using it for anxiety and chronic pain as well. Contact us to start your journey with EMDR treatment.
  • What is Trauma? How do I know I've experienced it?
Trauma in one sense is self-defined. Meaning that what is considered traumatic to you may not be considered trauma to another person. However, the typical therapeutic definition of trauma is: witnessing or personally experiencing "actual or threatened death, serious injury, or sexual violence”* this injury includes physical, sexual, and psychological injuries. *This definition comes from the DSM-5
  • What children's treatment focuses have you seen most often?
I've worked with children from blended families, adoptive families, those who have been witness to domestic violence, and those living with various neurodivergences (either acquired or from birth) most often. I also commonly see child/teen clients who are struggling academically and/or with self-esteem, those processing the loss of a family member and working to manage anxiety/depression symptoms as well.
  • What adult treatment focuses have you worked with most often?
I have worked most frequently with adults who have experienced some type of prolonged stress or trauma--anywhere from domestic violence to medical trauma to the sudden loss of a loved one. Often times when one experiences prolonged stress or trauma, a variety of other symptoms/concerns arise as well, for example: anxiety, grief, depression, relationship challenges, work stress and low self-esteem, to name just a few. All of these concerns and more not listed here can be addressed in our therapy sessions. I also love to work with clients who come from many different backgrounds, gender identities, sexual identities, cultural experiences, neurodivergence differences and accessibility needs. As you can see, this space can't possibly capture the vast amount of differences and needs that we carry, but no matter what yours are, we are here to help! Contact us to have any other questions answered!
  • How does pricing work for counseling? Do you offer sliding scale session fee rates at all?
My hourly rate is $70/ session. However, for those who express a financial burden, I do offer a sliding scale (or reduced) rates and those clients can pay anywhere between $30-65/session--based on need and availability. For those who find the fee to still be a burden, a superbill can be provided to the client upon request as well. Contact me to learn more about my openings today!
  • How many sessions do people usually book?
Short answer is- everyone is unique! It depends on what works for you, how committed you are, and what your counseling goals are! While most people come weekly, some come every other week. We will discuss what fits best for you during the quick introductory call after you reach out.
